Has anyone tried to stop smoking using hypnosis?

January 30th, 2012 by admin

I am considering ordering Steve Ira Present’s stop smoking hypnosis cd’s and wanted to know if anyone has ever tried them and if they worked.
Thanks.

I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I use hypnosis to help my clients stop smoking on a regular basis. It is extremely effective. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Steve Ira’s programs. I looked on the net and see a lot of info regarding the effectiveness of his programs.

If you truly desire to quit smoking and the desire is coming from within (not external pressure) you will definitely be able to quite smoking with any program. I know that www.wendi.com has some amazing programs.

Good luck… the following will help:

*Identify with yourself as already being a non-smoker
*Force yourself to smoke during times you don’t feel like it
*Don’t allow yourself to smoke at your favourite times ie: first thing in the morning with your coffee
*Force yourself to pull over rather than smoke in a vehicle
and come with a positive attitude

Does the NHS have a free self hypnosis service for help to stop smoking?

October 4th, 2011 by admin

The NHS does not.

But most HMO’s do offer smoking cessation programs that may include coverage for non-traditional treatments. If you’re uninsured, there might also be privately funded programs you can look into.

What is the Best Anti Smoking Product ?

January 30th, 2011 by admin

What is the best anti smoking product ?

There are to many different ways to try and stop smoking – which one is best.

As you already know quitting smoking is probably one of life’s hardest habit to stop!

But like thousands of smokers that try to quit each year, and fail …you’re not alone.

You see there are so many so called ways to quit smoking that it’s becoming even more confusing.

The pharmaceutical giants have seen this market and take advantage of people like you and me. They tell you that by using their products and filling your body full of chemicals that you can quit smoking in just 3 months.

You’ve probably been there and have tried everything they had to offer, yet still carried on smoking as their products just didn’t live up to the hype.

All you did was fill these companies’ pockets with more money.

How many of you have been there? ….most of you I bet!

You see by filling your body with more chemicals just isn’t the answer!

Why?

Well just think about it and look at what chemicals are contained in cigarettes alone

      Chemical                                    Found in:

  • Carbon monoxide                   car exhaust
  • Nicotine                                    bug sprays
  • Tar                                            material to make roads
  • Arsenic                                     rat poison
  • Ammonia                                 cleaning products
  • Hydrogen cyanide                   gas chamber poison
  • Cyanide                                    deadly poison
  • Acetone                                    nail polish remover
  • Butane                                      cigarette lighter fluid
  • DDT                                          insecticides
  • Formaldehyde                          to preserve dead bodies
  • Sulphuric acid                          car batteries
  • Cadmium                                  used to recharge batteries
  • Freon                                         damages earth’s ozone layer
  • Geranic acid                             a fragrance
  • Methoprene                               a pesticide
  • Maltitol                                       a sweetener not permitted in foods

Now I don’t know about you but I didn’t want to be filling my body with even more chemicals!

Now you can be someone who have smoked for years and tried every new product the big pharmaceutical companies had to offer.

After 6 months of hard research and finding the best ways to stop the habit for good…

Now no matter what the drug companies tell you, there are only 2 ways to quit smoking!

There’s either the hard way of just using your will power alone. Many smokers fail using this method because at the slightest sign of stress you’ll find yourself puffing away to make yourself feel better

The other is the easy way! This method is the best to finally quit smoking and quit for good.

This method is by using NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) which is a form of psychotherapy. It’s a bit like hypnosis but without the loss of control as you sometimes see. It gives you the ability and full control to stub out the evil cancer sticks for good.

This method is used by many people and with great success.

The Mythology of Self Hypnosis

January 25th, 2011 by admin

Many people have very damaging, destructive beliefs about self hypnosis. They believe that self hypnosis is dangerous or can be misused or abused by others. Many hold beliefs such as: Only messed-up people use self hypnosis! The people who need self hypnosis are emotionally insecure! Self hypnosis users have a lot of issues! These beliefs can stop you from using the power of self hypnosis to change your life, your destiny and your fortunes. What’s more, they are all totally untrue!

The vast majority of people who use self hypnosis are not dysfunctional crazies but in fact normal well-adjusted individuals who have been trying to secure change in their lives but have been unable to affect this change through conventional means. The many hundreds of self hypnosis applications and its very high success rate mean that this form of therapy, or mind programming, has become more popular over the years than any other self improvement tool.

Every one of us has some issue, or issues, in our lives that we would like to improve. Unfortunately historical ways of dealing with such things seldom produce satisfactory results. Even those that do produce positive long-term results take months, if not years, to implement. A good example of this is psychotherapy which is expensive, time-consuming, and often, fails to produce the measurable results desired.

AQs well as having a very high success rate there is an additional reason for utilizing the power of self hypnosis. As a tool for internal and external change it is by far the fastest method available today.

Self hypnosis can secure change rapidly because it gives you the ability to communicate directly with the subconscious mind and influence change at this very deep level of behaviourism.

By far the most common application of self hypnosis, as a self improvement tool, is to secure changes in behaviour. For example a great many self hypnosis practitioners begin their hypnotic journeys wanting to eliminate negative behaviours such as smoking or over-eating!

Even though there are many more applications of self hypnosis, behaviour modification is the most popular to date. Only after initial success do self hypnosis users start to venture into the truly remarkable and wonders uses of this powerful mind tool.

Although eliminating unwanted behaviours seems to be the primary use of self hypnosis today it should be noted that as a goal-achievement tool it is priceless. When self hypnosis has been used as part of a goal-setting/goal-achievement plan its success rate has been amazing. By using sophisticated sound technologies, within a carefully guided session, it is possible to coerce the brain into a certain state that produces specific mind/body altering brainwaves which give direct access to the subconscious mind. The most common brainwave state entered into during a self hypnosis session is the Alpha state. While emmersed in this mental state you become very open to suggestion and it is therefore very easy to influence the subconscious mind.

As the subconscious mind is responsible for our memories and automatic behaviours and feelings we can ensure that our automatic responses are the way we want them to be merely by programming the subconscious mind.

For instance, if you are a procrastinator when it comes to house-work or study then it is merely a matter of using the hypnotic state to access the subconscious mind. Once a connection to this deeper level of mind has been made, you can use clever self hypnosis techniques to program in automatic behaviour that ensures you never procrastinate with these jobs again. It is, in fact, possible to even program yourself into enjoying the tasks!

Likewise, you can also program into your subconscious mind, using the latest break-through techniques in self hypnosis, automatic behaviours, thoughts and feelings that help you to achieve your goals rather than those you may currently have that hinder your progress. Much research into the thoughts, emotional make-up and automatic behaviours of highly successful people have led to self hypnosis programs being made that incorporate the programming of these behaviours into the self hypnosis recording.

This has led to the creation of self hypnosis sessions that can be used to program your mind with the sae thought processes, emotional responses and behaviours of millionaires, top achievers and Olypic athletes. In fact, self hypnosis can be, and has been, used to program the mind for success in every area imaginable. So don’t you think it’s time you stop believing in myths and gave it a try?

January 24th, 2011 by admin

The use of hypnosis as a viable therapeutic method is becoming more accepted today than ever before. Hypnosis allows you to use the natural power of your subconscious mind to make positive changes in your life.

The 7 common uses of hypnosis are:

1. Smoking Cessation

It is widely known that hypnosis for smoking cessation has the highest success rate of all the stop smoking methods. In most cases, smoking cessation can be accomplished in just one hypnosis session.

2. Weight Loss

Most people who go on diet end up gaining the weight back within 1-5 years. Hypnosis for weight loss empowers you to create a new healthy lifestyle, while controlling any eating issues you may have.

3. Fears & Phobias

Fears are our bodies response to a dangerous situation, while a phobia is an intense and irrational fear. Hypnosis if often used to overcome common fears and phobias. Some
effective techniques include systematic desensitization and age regression.

4. Stress Management

The prolonged negative effects of stress can lead to many emotional and physical illnesses. Most stress management programs include the use of various mind body techniques
including hypnosis. Some benefits include feeling more relaxed, having a better attitude,
eating a healthier diet, exercising regularly, and sleeping more soundly.

5. Pain Management

Many studies have shown that hypnosis is very effective for the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. The number of pain management clinics that are using hypnotherapy as a method of treatment for their patients is growing everyday. Pain management techniques
address both the physical and emotional aspects of pain.

Top athletes have been using visualization and mental rehearsal techniques for many years as a part of their training program. Sports hypnosis goes even deeper by allowing you to overcome obstacles, gain confidence, improve motivation and attitude, enhance focus and
performance, and much more.

Are Hypnosis Downloads Worth It?

January 21st, 2011 by admin

If you have been looking to solve your problems by using hypnosis but have been scared away by the cost of arranging for a sitting with a hypnotist or if you are not sure whether your money will be spent in vain, then there is hope for you. Thanks to the world wide web, a lot of material can be readily found over the internet. All you need is your PC and an internet connection; you can choose from several hypnosis downloads available. As a matter of fact, you will find that there are digital downloads, transcripts, CDs and DVDs to choose from. And you can make use of them all from the comfort of your own home.

Tracks for self hypnosis can normally be purchased in one of two forms: audio CDs which have been recorded or digital hypnosis downloads. In order to play the tracks, all you need is a set of headphones and music player software. The audio recorded includes a full hypnotic session carried out by a hypnotist. While you listen to the ideas, it is as if a hypnotist were by your side trying to hypnotize you. Here is no fixed agenda; you may listen to the recordings whenever you feel like.

How effective the hypnosis downloads like audios are depends on the atmosphere and the emotional state the listener is in. To get optimal results, one must listen to the audios in an environment which is comfortable where you feel totally relaxed. Make sure you do not listen to hypnosis audio tracks when you are in the process of carrying out activities that demand your full attention like driving. If the audio tracks do not produce results immediately, you might need to listen to them again and again to reap the benefits.

Self hypnosis downloads can give you a handy way to replicate real hypnotic sessions you might have had with hypnotists. If you are tired of some psychological problem that you have, check out the internet. You will find entire lists of downloads for hypnosis. With several tracks available, you are sure to find a cure to stop smoking or fight issues like weight loss. Don’t wait for the situation to get worse to take action.

You might have often wondered whether it is better to visit a qualified hypnotist or download a hypnosis track. Actually both choices work. A good hypnotherapist might be better as he will provide you a session tailor-made to your precise requirements. On the other hand, professionally recorded hypnosis downloads come a close second as they have the advantage of being played again and again, which is not possible in a session with your hypnotist.

If your schedule at work makes it difficult to get an appointment with the hypnotherapist in your locality, downloading a hypnosis audio file like MP3 should work nearly as well as a session with your hypnotherapist. Whatever it is that is not tailor-made to your requirements will be balanced out by the fact that you can replay the session any number of times you want.

Besides, sometimes you need therapy right away like when you have to travel on work and you have a fear of flying. A few times of listening to a hypnosis audio file, and your trip will not only be manageable, but you will stop being a nervous wreck. There are plenty of hypnosis downloads to choose from depending on the problem you are afflicted with.

Stop Smoking Techniques – 7 Popular Methods

January 18th, 2011 by admin

According to the CDC, an estimated, 20.8% of all adults (45.3 million people) smoke cigarettes in the United States. In 2004, Lung Cancer was responsible for more deaths than prostate, breast and colon cancer combined. Over 80% of those deaths are related to smoking cigarettes.

Approximately, four out of five smokers would like to quit . The key is finding the right method.

7 popular quit smoking methods:

1. Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a safe and natural state of awareness that allows you to use the power of your subconscious mind to quickly change habits and control behaviors. Hypnosis has one of the higher success rates compared to other methods as long as you work with a professional Certified Hypnotist and having a strong desire to quit. In many cases this can be accomplished in just one session.

2. EFT
EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture without the needles. You tap on certain meridian points to balance the energy system in your body. EFT is simple to learn, gentle and easy to use, can be used anywhere, only takes minutes, and has such great results. EFT is most effective when used in conjunction with another stop smoking method.

3. Prescription drugs
Various prescription drugs (Chantix, Zyban, Nicotrol) have helped many people to quit smoking. The success rates are not as high as some of the other methods, and the possible negative side effects can be intense. Talk to your Doctor for more information.

4. Nicotine Replacement
Gum, patches, lozenges are all types of nicotine replacement products. These products tend to have a fairly low success rate, and may have some potential negative side effects. They are most effective when used in conjunction with another stop smoking method or program. Before trying any nicotine replacement product please consult your Doctor.

5. Cold turkey
This is the most popular stop smoking method, but has the lowest success rate. Many people fail, because in order to be successful at quitting cold turkey you need to be 100% committed. Having a smoking cessation plan will increase your chance of success.

6. Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient chinese treatment that involves balancing the natural energies in the body by placing needles into certain meridian points. This helps curb the desire to smoke. Being successful with acupuncture may require multiple treatments and a strong desire to quit. There is not enough scientific evidence to determine the success rate of acupuncture.

7. Laser therapy
Low level laser is a modern day version of acupuncture. When the laser is applied to certain points on the face, ears, and hands, it releases endorphins that helps reduce the stress associated with cravings. The FDA ruled that the use of low level laser is a safe and non-significant risk. As with acupuncture, there is not enough scientific evidence to determine the success rate of low level laser therapy.

Which is the best product to stop smoking?

July 7th, 2010 by admin

I’m gonna try and stop smoking, and i’ve tried it before without any patches or inhalers but it didnt work, any idea what the best product is? inhalers or patches? or is there something else i could try? im not gonna try hypnosis or anything like that though, because i know it wont work.

Drexl has some crazy good advice through his experience, actually, but I’ll throw my two cents in nonetheless. Since you mentioned you haven’t used patches or inhalers, I’d recommend trying whatever suits your comfort zone best – really, both work in a similar fashion by bringing your body down from the normal nicotine high it’s used to; however, there are some small differences.

Nicotine inhalers, such as the electronic cigarette (explained in more detail in the context of the ‘gradual reduction method’ here: http://smokefreeme.info/methods/gradualreduction.html ), are more comfortable for a lot of people; not physically, but in the sense that your old habits aren’t going to kick in when you’re out on lunch break and you’re looking for the cigarette you’re used to (regardless of the nicotine, it’s a psychological normal, a part of your daily routine). With an inhaler like this, you just pull it out and take a few puffs of your gradually reduced nicotine but avoid getting the real deal and the 4000 additional carcinogens with it.

On the other side of the spectrum, you’ve got your nicotine patches; put them on, forget about them, and go about your day (you can read more about the nicotine replacement method here: http://smokefreeme.info/methods/nicotinereplacement.html ) I’ve heard a lot of success with both methods, if you actually pursue your goal and don’t get lazy half way in and start forgetting. (Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us :P ) In the end, it’s all up to you – both are equally valid ways of doing it. Just don’t give up, and eventually you’ll break your dependency on the tobacco industry. :) Best of luck!

Is Steve Crace of the Kentuckiana Hypnosis Group legitimate?

April 26th, 2010 by admin

There is a "Lose Weight or Stop Smoking" Clinical Hypnosis Group Seminar coming to a town near me. I would like to try hypnosis for quitting smoking, as I have tried just about everything else, but at $40/ person, I would really like to know if anyone has any info on this guy/group and if they are legit or not!

The most important step in quitting is knowing you are not part of a lower class and not a separate group from normal people, just because you smoke, in other words, you have to be confident and have support from friends and family. I recommend that you put this question in another category as you seem to be asking if the website is legit or not, and not for "how do you quit smoking". Personally, I would not like to spend $40, on something that may not work;you should ask the group more about hypnosis, and if they have a money back guarantee, side effects, etc. Good luck!=)

Hypnosis Aids

March 15th, 2010 by admin

Hypnosis is a unique medicinal aid in that it can be used to help a variety of problems, whether physical, psychological or emotional.

Hypnosis in itself is not a science; its phenomena, though, have proven to be highly amenable to experimental research employing the methodology and procedures of scientific enquiry.

Hypnosis is a state of restful alertness during which a person uses deeply focused concentration. The person can be relatively unaware of, but not completely blind to, her or his surroundings, and may be more open to suggestion. It is considered to be a type of complementary therapy.

Hypnosis is the induction of a deeply relaxed state, with increased suggestibility and suspension of critical faculties. Once in this state, sometimes called a hypnotic trance, patients are given therapeutic suggestions to encourage changes in behaviors or relief of symptoms. For example, in a treatment to stop smoking a hypnosis practitioner might suggest that the patient will no longer find smoking pleasurable or necessary. Hypnosis for a patient with arthritis might include a suggestion that the pain can be turned down like the volume of a radio.

Hypnosis has a long and rich history, dating from the late 18th Century in Paris. The history of hypnosis has something important to say about the scientific endeavor in general. Hypnosis has been used in Western medicine for more than 150 years to treat everything from anxiety to pain, from easing the nausea of cancer chemotherapy to enhancing sports performance,”

Misuse of hypnosis can have dire consequences, and may be especially harmful in the treatment of people who were sexually abused as children. Care should always be taken when hypnosis is to be employed and patients should be ‘brought out’ of the hypnotic trance before they leave the clinic. Hypnosis should be undertaken only by appropriately trained, experienced, and regulated practitioners. It should be avoided in established or borderline psychosis and personality disorders.
