Drexl has some crazy good advice through his experience, actually, but I’ll throw my two cents in nonetheless. Since you mentioned you haven’t used patches or inhalers, I’d recommend trying whatever suits your comfort zone best – really, both work in a similar fashion by bringing your body down from the normal nicotine high it’s used to; however, there are some small differences.

Nicotine inhalers, such as the electronic cigarette (explained in more detail in the context of the ‘gradual reduction method’ here: http://smokefreeme.info/methods/gradualreduction.html ), are more comfortable for a lot of people; not physically, but in the sense that your old habits aren’t going to kick in when you’re out on lunch break and you’re looking for the cigarette you’re used to (regardless of the nicotine, it’s a psychological normal, a part of your daily routine). With an inhaler like this, you just pull it out and take a few puffs of your gradually reduced nicotine but avoid getting the real deal and the 4000 additional carcinogens with it.

On the other side of the spectrum, you’ve got your nicotine patches; put them on, forget about them, and go about your day (you can read more about the nicotine replacement method here: http://smokefreeme.info/methods/nicotinereplacement.html ) I’ve heard a lot of success with both methods, if you actually pursue your goal and don’t get lazy half way in and start forgetting. (Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us :P ) In the end, it’s all up to you – both are equally valid ways of doing it. Just don’t give up, and eventually you’ll break your dependency on the tobacco industry. :) Best of luck!

Is Steve Crace of the Kentuckiana Hypnosis Group legitimate? http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/is-steve-crace-of-the-kentuckiana-hypnosis-group-legitimate http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/is-steve-crace-of-the-kentuckiana-hypnosis-group-legitimate#comments Mon, 26 Apr 2010 17:33:12 +0000 admin http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/is-steve-crace-of-the-kentuckiana-hypnosis-group-legitimate There is a "Lose Weight or Stop Smoking" Clinical Hypnosis Group Seminar coming to a town near me. I would like to try hypnosis for quitting smoking, as I have tried just about everything else, but at $40/ person, I would really like to know if anyone has any info on this guy/group and if they are legit or not!

The most important step in quitting is knowing you are not part of a lower class and not a separate group from normal people, just because you smoke, in other words, you have to be confident and have support from friends and family. I recommend that you put this question in another category as you seem to be asking if the website is legit or not, and not for "how do you quit smoking". Personally, I would not like to spend $40, on something that may not work;you should ask the group more about hypnosis, and if they have a money back guarantee, side effects, etc. Good luck!=)

Hypnosis Aids http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/hypnosis-aids http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/hypnosis-aids#comments Mon, 15 Mar 2010 14:32:20 +0000 admin http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/hypnosis-aids

Hypnosis is a unique medicinal aid in that it can be used to help a variety of problems, whether physical, psychological or emotional.

Hypnosis in itself is not a science; its phenomena, though, have proven to be highly amenable to experimental research employing the methodology and procedures of scientific enquiry.

Hypnosis is a state of restful alertness during which a person uses deeply focused concentration. The person can be relatively unaware of, but not completely blind to, her or his surroundings, and may be more open to suggestion. It is considered to be a type of complementary therapy.

Hypnosis is the induction of a deeply relaxed state, with increased suggestibility and suspension of critical faculties. Once in this state, sometimes called a hypnotic trance, patients are given therapeutic suggestions to encourage changes in behaviors or relief of symptoms. For example, in a treatment to stop smoking a hypnosis practitioner might suggest that the patient will no longer find smoking pleasurable or necessary. Hypnosis for a patient with arthritis might include a suggestion that the pain can be turned down like the volume of a radio.

Hypnosis has a long and rich history, dating from the late 18th Century in Paris. The history of hypnosis has something important to say about the scientific endeavor in general. Hypnosis has been used in Western medicine for more than 150 years to treat everything from anxiety to pain, from easing the nausea of cancer chemotherapy to enhancing sports performance,”

Misuse of hypnosis can have dire consequences, and may be especially harmful in the treatment of people who were sexually abused as children. Care should always be taken when hypnosis is to be employed and patients should be ‘brought out’ of the hypnotic trance before they leave the clinic. Hypnosis should be undertaken only by appropriately trained, experienced, and regulated practitioners. It should be avoided in established or borderline psychosis and personality disorders.

Quit Smoking – Hypnosis Will Help You Quit for Good http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/quit-smoking-hypnosis-will-help-you-quit-for-good http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/quit-smoking-hypnosis-will-help-you-quit-for-good#comments Sat, 13 Mar 2010 21:37:13 +0000 admin http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/quit-smoking-hypnosis-will-help-you-quit-for-good

How many people do you know who have quit smoking for a month or a year or and then started up again? What methods did they use to quit smoking: hypnosis, drugs, cold turkey? If they started back up after trying to quit smoking, hypnosis was probably not one of the things they tried. Is that your story, too? Unfortunately, it’s really common.

Anyone who has smoked for a number of years comes to a point where they really want to quit. In fact, they’re desperate to quit. That’s when they find out just how addicted they are. Because even though they have really good reasons, and a lot of motivation to quit, they can’t.

Has this already happened to you? Have you already had the experience of wanting to quit because the new baby was on the way? Or your new boyfriend or girlfriend doesn’t smoke. So you don’t want to anymore either? Or maybe you’re just tired of seeing so much of your hard-earned cash literally go up in smoke!

Whatever your reason for wanting to quit smoking, good intentions are usually not enough. Nicotine addiction is so strong, that you’ll need all the help he can get. The good news is, there’s a lot of help available. You have a lot of good quit smoking methods and products to choose from.

Quitting smoking is really a two-pronged process. You have to deal with both the physical nicotine addiction, and the psychological habits that you have created around smoking. Let’s call them your “smoking rituals”.

Everyone who has smoked for any number of years has actually built a whole set of smoking rituals that are unique to them. One of the reasons it’s so difficult to quit smoking is that the rituals become self reinforcing. What exactly does that mean?

It means that when you first began smoking you developed a set of habits, or actions, that you used every time you lit up your cigarette. And these are things like having a favorite ashtray, preferring a particular brand of cigarettes, using matches instead of a lighter, or always buying a red or a yellow lighter.

Now think about how many cigars or cigarettes you smoke every day. Do you smoke one pack a day? That’s 20 cigarettes. So that’s 20 times a day that you use your red lighter, or you look at that gold and white cigarette package. And then there are all of the habitual places and times that you smoke. You have a cigarette sitting in your favorite chair, or you light up after every meal.

So after even one year of smoking, do you really wonder why every time you see your cigarette lighter, or you finish a meal, it just feels natural to have a cigarette? In fact, it feels uncomfortable not to have one. And we’ve only been talking about your behavioral habits.

When you quit smoking cigarettes, you also have to face your nicotine addiction. And the physical addiction to nicotine is as strong or stronger than a physical addiction to heroin. The good news about that is: once you stop putting nicotine into your system, most of it flushes out within a couple of days.

Quit smoking drugs, like patches and pills and nasal sprays, are intended to help you get through the physical withdrawal period. They’re supposed to help reduce the nicotine cravings, and you’re supposed to gradually taper off from them. They work about 20% to 30% of the time for long-term smoking cessation. But if you talk to people who have successfully quit smoking for 10 or 20 years, you’ll probably find that they used self hypnosis at some point to help them stop smoking for good.

Tired of Trying to Quit Smoking? Hypnosis Can Take You From Failure to Success http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/tired-of-trying-to-quit-smoking-hypnosis-can-take-you-from-failure-to-success http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/tired-of-trying-to-quit-smoking-hypnosis-can-take-you-from-failure-to-success#comments Fri, 12 Mar 2010 20:32:21 +0000 admin http://www.hypnosissmokings.com/hypnosis-stop-smoking/tired-of-trying-to-quit-smoking-hypnosis-can-take-you-from-failure-to-success

Are you tired of trying to quit smoking? Hypnosis can take you from failure to success. If you have tried every smoking cessation aid on the market, and are feeling frustrated after spending so much money on all the pills, patches, and sprays that are supposed to make it easy to quit, hypnosis just may be your answer.

You might be sabotaging your own success. Your frustration about not being able to quit might actually be making it harder for you to quit. Because the more stressed you feel, the more you want to smoke to handle the stress. It’s a vicious circle. A stressful situation triggers the craving for a cigarette, which makes you feel like you have failed at your goal of stopping smoking, which makes you feel stressed…does that sound familiar?

So what’s the antidote for too much stress? Relaxation, or course. And relaxation techniques are at the core of successful self hypnosis programs. The more you learn how to relax, the easier it will be for your to let go of your addictive smoking habits with as little pain as possible.

But a lot of people are skeptical of hypnosis. They think they’re not hypnotizable, even though most people are. Or they mistakenly think that it’s really just a matter of falling asleep, like taking a nap, or dozing off on the sofa while watching television. Of course, nicotine addiction requires a lot more than a few hours of sleep to cure. And hypnosis is not just a matter of falling into a deep sleep.

Other people are afraid that they’ll do something embarrassing while in a hypnotic trance, like show up at work in their pajamas. But people don’t lose consciousness during hypnosis. And they don’t do anything that they don’t want to do. Although it is true that some people are more “suggestible” than others, and can reach a deeper state of relaxation.

But more often, people are awake and aware of their surroundings. They are just very relaxed. The kind of hypnosis that quit smoking programs teach is designed so that anyone can do it, with a little practice. You don’t need special skills, or magical powers. You don’t have to be able to go into a deep trance. In fact, at least ninety-five percent of the world’s population is completely capable of being hypnotized

Have you ever day dreamed? Or been lost in a really good book? Or done a guided meditation? That’s what a hypnotic trance is like. Except that when you’re using a self hypnosis program designed to help you quit smoking, you’re in complete control of when and where you induce yourself into your trance.

If your program is on CDs or downloadable audio files, you can listen to it anyplace that you have access to a media player and a comfortable chair. Usually, you’ll want to find a place that’s quiet, and without harsh lighting. But even a quiet location isn’t a strict requirement if you have a set of noise-blocking headphones or ear buds.

If your program is in printed format (a book or downloadable ebook), you won’t even need the media player. Just find a comfortable and quiet corner with minimal distractions, and read the script to yourself. After a few sessions, you’ll have it memorized, and you’ll be able to practice your self hypnosis cues anywhere you choose.

And actually, that’s the whole point of using a self hypnosis program to help yourself stop smoking. With enough regular practice, you’ll naturally begin to use your own mental cues when you find yourself in the same kinds of stressful situations that used to make you reach for your cigarettes.
