Smokers/Ex-Smokers ONLY!! I want to quit smoking.?

March 21st, 2011 by admin

Just as the title says. I want to quite smoking but have had trouble with it so far. My main obstacle is my brother and sister, who are heavy smokers. I dont usually buy smokes myself but end up getting a pack when i’ve been drinking. But if they go for one and ask me if I want one I will say no…they make fun of me and say over and over things like "come onnn" "I’ll quit with you this summer." "one isnt going to hurt you" they have hounded me about it for five ten minutes sometimes. Standing by the front door with their jackets on…then I just cave and have one…and more if im drinking. I dont smoke if im by myself…sure i crave them but always talk myself out of it.

I used to be so active. Hiking, running, classes at the gym. Now i cant walk up my stairs without being winded and its so pathetic.
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips that helped them when they decided to quit smoking. I have a pretty low incom. About $1000 a month…so things like hypnotherapy and accupuncture are out of the question…

I started smoking on and off two years ago but in the last year its gotten really bad. I sometimes have two or three a day. If I’ve been drinking I will somethimes have five or six…

Please offer me some advice. I really want to stop…

Honestly, tell them to stop or don’t be around them. It’s obviously a problem that they are causing your will to break. In the meantime, until you can get them to stop you can try to cut down and ONLY smoke when they smoke…but eventually you will need to make the decision to stop completely. Drinking and smoking….well that’s an issue that I still face. I used to smoke 2 packs a day for 5 years. I now don’t smoke at all unless I drink, and I try to only drink once a month. It’s a difficult situation, but you will NEED to make a stand against them sometime. Don’t get discouraged though. It took me 6 months to quit because I kept giving in, but now I don’t have any cravings at all. I genuinely wish you luck.

has anyone tried hypnothereapy?

February 21st, 2011 by admin

i am now on the cusp of lung disease due to smoking and have been considering hypnotherapy to help stop, i have tried a lot of nicotine replacement but lack the discipline to keep taking it. I have had constant chest infections for several months and STILL i smoke. I would love to hear any comments about hypnotists or any other quit methods

I have, I have! And it’s amazing, I couldn’t recommend any form of therapy more.

I struggled for years with a crippling anxiety disorder and phobia that meant I was barely surviving, didn’t get any sleep, was constantly on alert and panic mode, my adrenals were totally screwed from it… then I went to a hypnotherapist one day, when I’d had enough (ahem, had a panic attack and blacked out, came to on my boss’s shoulder!). It was extremely relaxing, calming, I was aware and in control the whole time – you’re just in a very relaxed state of consciousness, somewhere between awake and asleep, so everything is kind of dreamy and peaceful and lovely but you’re still aware. When I woke up, I felt brilliant – very relaxed, happy, upbeat, cheerful, and could remember most of the session clearly (albeit with a dream-like haze).

A week later, I encountered the source of the phobia out of the blue… and barely batted an eyelid. Where once it would have had me in hysterics for at least half an hour, unable to sleep or think of anything else for a week, I hardly even noticed it this time and never have since. The best $100 I ever spent!!

So yes, go for it – nothing to lose, everything to gain. All the urban legends are nonsense too btw – you can’t get stuck in a trance (you fall asleep or wake up), you can’t even be hypnotised unless you believe you can and believe it will work, and you’re in control the entire time. The power of the mind is amazing.

Hope that helps – good luck!!

Quit Smoking

January 27th, 2011 by admin

The key to finding the right quit smoking aids is to compare them and determine which one will work best for you. However, in this period of time people prefer natural quit smoking methods such as acupuncture, natural tea leaves and laser treatments.

Usually a health scare is enough to send a “smokers” drive looking for an easy way to quit smoking. Whether it be themselves or a family member who have experienced an unpleasant health side effect from a result of smoking cigarettes.

Quit smoking laser therapy is the of the best laser treatments to quit smoking. Quit smoking laser therapy is very similar to the traditional method of acupuncture except that instead of needles a low-power laser is used. Quit smoking laser therapy is one of the surest and safest methods to use when dealing with smoking cessation.

When you have the desire to quit smoking rest assured this is a desire that can be acted upon and satisfied. By having the desire to quit smoking you can then take the next step along with any subsequent steps that lead you down the road to a smoke free life. The desire for things typically have to do with things that are lacking from our own lives or the lives of ones we love.

When you use the quit smoking patches, it is important that you have the willpower and the determination to stop as well. The patches are not some miracle to stop you from smoking. If the urge to smoke is greater than the urge to quit, the patches will not work for you.

When you’re addicted to smoking and you want to quit smoking you look for miraculous ways to take away your addiction. People will tell you that you should quit smoking as soon as possible, and hey, if they are your friends then obviously they will tell you that, they are only looking out for you

Quit smoking side effects create problems but you can easily fight with those. Remember these effects are not permanent. You will feel these side effects only for few weeks after quitting. With a little bit of will power you can easily give up smoking.

By using hypnotherapy or hypnosis you will have the possibility to avoid the thoughts of cigarettes. After using hypnotherapy you will no longer crave for cigarettes. You will not suffer for any of withdrawal symptoms when you decide to quit by using this type of quit smoking method. This method will fit every smoker, even if they have tried quit smoking several times before.

The quit smoking product is designed to help people give up smoking. But no matter how good or effective this product is, without the person’s will it will have almost no effect. Unless you don’t really want to become smoke free, you will eventually start smoking again.

Some of the side effects are very common like suffering from insomnia (not able to sleep), feeling restless, headache, constipation and weight gain. Drink lots of water and fruit juice after you quit. This will help you reducing some of the side effects like headache and weight gain. Drinking water and juice will also help you reducing the carving. Regular exercise can also help you reducing some of the side effects.

Read about herbal supplements and also read about breast enlargement and breast enhancement

Why doesn’t he help himself?

January 20th, 2011 by admin

My dad is almost 56 years old. He has smoked for most of his life and his diet could be better. About two years ago he started suffering pain in his leg and found that it was due to bad circulation. His father had his leg amputated for the same thing and ended up bleeding to death after a clot in his arm burst. My dad was in his 20’s when this happened and was present at his father’s death who died at 48. I would have thought that this would be enough incentive to look after his health more but he has done the complete opposite.

He isn’t in a critical condition at the moment, but he has been told he should give up smoking and watch his diet and partake in some gentle exercise, none of which he has done. His partner who also smokes has been far from supportive. I mentioned in her presence that it would maybe be easier for my dad to quit smoking if she did it too and she just glared at me. This upset me, thought they seem happy together, she should be more supportive.

I’m 20 years old, and I’m worried that my dad won’t be around to see his grandchildren should he have any, or mine or my brothers weddings. It’s selfish of him to not want to be healthy. Why should my brother and I not have a father because he wanted to smoke?

I don’t ever want to try to dictate what he should do, because he is stubborn, and I know to quit a habit like smoking you do have to really want to do it for yourself. He won’t try hypnotherapy and he hates any of the nicorette patches and gum. He’s very difficult but I’m not sure he realises how much he is upsetting us too. I can’t imagine him not being around anymore.

Do any of you have any advice as to how I can possibly make him see the heartache he is causing us? Or make him see why he should stop? Or even just to make him care enough to want to stick around with us a little longer?

Perhaps he cant do it himself,he needs help good luck

Hypnotherapy for my ptsd?

November 16th, 2010 by admin

I’m an 18 year old girl who just started college. Back in February, I did the dumbest thing with my cousins. I smoked so much weed that I blacked out but I was in a sort of unconcious state where I was able to hear everything. I opened my eyes and had to hold my cousins hand and I was hopping around and saying "Am I really here?" "I’m going to die". And while I was blacked out I thought I was being dragged. This lasted for more than 24 hours where I couldnt sleep, etc. A month later I couldnt stop thinking about it. I was so scared. Then my anxiety went through the roof where I was missing days of school, I couldnt eat, sleep for days, I felt like I was in another world. I went to therapy 3 times and was getting so anxious there, I stopped going. Its been 8 months, and I feel like Im not here, like Im going to wake up from all of this, or Im going to "trip out" again. I cry to my mom and when I hug her I feel like shes not there. I hate feeling this way. Its making me more and more depressed which angers me and makes me more anxious. I feel like Im floating a lot, especially when Im in bed with my eyes closed. I just want this to be over. I use to be a happy, optimistic person, now everything frightenes me. I just feel like Im trapped and Im afraid Ill never go back to the way I use to be.

Will hypnotherapy help me get back to a rational mindset? Im afraid of getting into a trance because what if I feel like I am high and Ill freak out? What if I dont wake up from it like I feel after this happened to me?

Any advice, experience, or support will help :)

First of all, you are allergic to marijuana. I know because I am also allergic to it and had a similar experience. Do not use it again and avoid any exposure to it. If you have another reaction to it, it will be worse.
If you have used it for a long time, it can take months or years to completely leave your system. Drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Eat a healthy diet and take care of yourself. The effects will slowly fade.
I would not go to a hypnotist. It can be dangerous for the exact reasons you have stated and more.
I would go to a regular doctor and a drug abuse counselor. The doctor can treat your anxiety. Drug counselors are familiar with these sorts of drug reactions and will be able to help you process your feelings and fears so that you can recover.
Good luck!

How do I get traffic to my website?

November 8th, 2010 by admin

I have a new website, www.hypnofife.vpweb.co.uk and would like to know the best ways of this getting people to visit it.
Katy Stevenson’s Hypnotherapy is a fantastic way of getting help you need from anything like stopping smoking to regression, hypnobirthing and losing weight.
Should I be advertising in specific places or????
Please help!

To get traffic, try http://www.easyhits4u.net.tc

I’m personally using it for my own website. It’s a 2:1 AND 1:1 traffic exchange ratio and it’s pretty popular. :P You browse some websites for 20 or so seconds and gain credit. Then you assign those credits to your website so that other people can view your site for 20 or so seconds.

More random traffic = higher up in search engines = more visitors :)

Hope I helped!

Have you quit smoking? If so, how?

August 13th, 2010 by admin

Have you tried alternative therapies, such as hypnotherapy or acupunture. I started smoking again about 3 days ago and i am struggling to stop already, i previously smoked for 7 years. Cold turkey is proving to fail for me. (do you know of any stratigies that help with quiting cold turkey?) I previously quit using champix tablets. I would rather not use them as they make me incredibly sick, physically and mentally.

It’s harder to want to quit smoking than it is actually to do it. Be completely honest with yourself: are you giving up because you think you should, or because you want to? If the former, you’re unlikely to succeed; if the latter, then you’re more than half way there. I tried patches and chewing gum. Patches didn’t work at all: chewing gum was OK as it gave me something else to do with my mouth, but made me feel sick after a while. All the therapies available will only work if you’ve already found a way to want them to work. Use them as a helping hand only, but don’t depend on them.

Can a Person Make Real Change?

April 30th, 2010 by admin

Copyright (c) 2008 Dorothy Tannahill Moran

That’s a great question. At some point in your life, you have witnessed in yourself and perhaps others, attempts at making changes to their life which simply didn’t “take”. The range of changes is everything from losing weight to ending a bad relationship or smoking. Whatever the example, we have all had an opportunity to experience what seemed like good attempts but for some reason, the good attempt failed. It can leave one to wonder if, at some point, we become too solidified in various behaviors to really change. Let me set this stage by first saying: yes, we can and do make real changes all the time. I need to add that there is a bit of a process to it, but it’s not rocket science so it’s all available for us to do.

I usually end with a Pearl of Wisdom but on this topic this needs to be said upfront. If you are considering changing someone else: don’t. You only have control over yourself. You will only frustrate yourself and tick off the other person if you make them the focus of YOUR desire to change THEM. You need to work on acceptance, but that’s another article.

The process for change starts first with positioning yourself to find the need and desire to make a change. It’s like what you hear about addictions, you first must recognize you have a problem before you can start doing anything about it. Along with the recognition of the issue itself, you need to spend time truly analyzing how it impacts your life. You or someone needs to ask the tough questions like: How does this get in the way of accomplishing things you want to do? What would your life be like if this issue didn’t exist? How DOES this impact your life? It’s not enough to say “I’m over weight and I know I shouldn’t be”. You need to know at your core why it really is an issue. For this process step to be useful in spurring you on to action, you may need to research the issue by reading or talking to people. This is not a waste of time. Too often people will take a run at changing an issue, before they feel any real need to make the change. When it doesn’t work, they walk away wondering why or maybe rationalizing that “I knew it wouldn’t work”. Once you truly have internalized the need to make a change, it will help drive you forward to the next steps.

The next step is to understand the options for making the change. For a smoker it may be a selection of things like nicotine gum, hypnotherapy, or medications. You need to spend some time educating yourself on the entire range of possibilities to select from. Not all solutions are useful for all people, so it’s helpful to understand what’s available and how it might work. Then, narrow down the choices to the ones that you think will work for you.

Let me pause here to a make a comment. People that are facing behavioral issues like procrastination or anxiety follow the same process as anyone making any kind of change. I have noticed that people often time feel more resigned to these aspects in them, thinking that because it is something internal, they can’t be helped. Let me tell you, it’s all internal. It all requires work but the payoff can be worth the effort.

Once you have determined the options that you think will work best for you, it’s time to prepare for the change. Preparation is the act of modifying your environment, accumulating the required resources and creating your action plan. In this step, you may find it useful to counsel with key people in your life about the work you plan to undertake and what role you would like them to play. You can not underestimate the issues that arise with key people in your life, when you undertake a change. Mostly, they will resist anything that represents change for them, which includes you making a change. An example of how this might work is if you decide to stop drinking, your drinking friends will continue to offer you drink and may pressure you to resume. It works the same if you are dieting, they will offer you extra food or if the issue is trying to reduce drama, they will kindly lead you to chaos. Recognize that this is not an evil plot to undermine your change efforts. When one person in a “system” (system meaning family or group) changes, the system will continue to work to bring it back to its previous normal behavior. If you know that from the start, you can determine the best way to handle this. For some people, they have to avoid the people that may undermine their efforts. You may be able to simply make your request: “I’m going to be modifying my eating habits in order to make myself healthier. I need your support by not offering me goodies or bringing tempting things home. You are welcome to them, but if it could be outside of my view, I’d greatly appreciate the help.”

Other preparation steps may be obtaining assistance to help reinforce new behavior, provide support and give guidance. You may need to keep a daily journal of affirmations to help you modify your internal dialogue. Preparation is an important step, much like preparing to go on a trip. You don’t just launch out the door. You plan the route, get the car fueled, make reservations and do the research.

You now have motivation, reason and a plan. It’s time to take action. This is the action of change. Each day will be a challenge because you are going against the grain of something that has come natural to you. It is said it takes 21 days of repeated action to change a habit. You are changing a habit, so just know that for a while your new behavior will be something that doesn’t yet come naturally to you. During this time, if you backslide, just acknowledge what lead up it, make adjustments and continue on. The road will not be straight and smooth and if you know that coming into this step you will be better positioned to make it through this stage successfully. You can’t beat yourself up but you need to learn a lesson so you will be even better as you move forward.

Once you have reached your goal you are not done with the change work. You now enter into a maintenance phase. This is an important step because it reinforces the work you have done to make a change. Based on the work you have done in the various stages, you can use that information for your maintenance. If you now know what triggers your old behavior, you either avoid circumstances that the trigger will occur or you create a self management plan to help you respond appropriately. If you removed tempting foods while losing weight, don’t bring them back home now that you hit your goal.

People can and do change every day in many spectacular ways. Change is a process with preparation and planning at its core. It’s possible for you to make the changes in your life you want to make. It takes effort but the payoff is well worth it.

An amazing commendation by the Home Office – what do you think?

April 5th, 2010 by admin

An innovative way to cut overtime rates – West Midlands Police told their officers not to chase criminals near the end of their shift. Instead chiefs asked their officers to hand their cases over to other colleagues when their working hours are up for the day. This was discovered in a Home office report commending the force for their initiative. The same force spent £40,000 on hypnotherapy in 2007 to help staff stop smoking.

What a wonderful idea.

Can you imagine it.

"Tango 1 to Control. Am in pursuit of suspect white Audi saloon registration mark xxxx xxx on the M6 heading north believed to be vehicle involved in bank robbery in Birmingham. Four on board. Speed 98mph"

"Control to Tango 1 received"

"Control to Delta 4 did you get last message to Tango 1"

"Delta 4 to Control – moving to join Tango 1 on M6 three junctions ahead to intercept"

"Roger Delta 4"

"Tango 1 to Control It’s getting a bit late Sarge, I really should be going home".

"Control to Tango 1. Roger. Leave motorway at next junction and return to base"

"Tango 1 to Control. Roger"

20 Minutes later

"Delta 4 to Control. Suspect car has not passed this point yet"
