I did it to quit smoking. The first time it didn't work, but that's because I didn't follow the therapist's instructions for what to do after the session. The second time I followed the instructions to the letter, and I've been a non-smoker for about 18 years after smoking a pack a day for about six years. It only took one session that lasted about an hour, and then following specific instructions afterwards, such as getting rid of all smoking-related items (cigs, ashtrays, lighters), increasing water intake, taking a deep breath and holding it for a few seconds before slowing exhaling every time I felt the urge to have a cigarette. It also helps to have alternative activities to engage in that are incompatible with smoking (things that keep your hands busy). To avoid the urge to eat in place of smoking, keep a bottle of water with you at all times, chew sugarless gum, eat healthy snacks that keeps your fingers and mouth busy such as frozen grapes or cherry tomatoes.

does it work, and even if it does, will u still have those pianfull withdrawl symptoms.

It only works if you want it to work.

Heard of a case where the hypnotist gave up on a smoker whom he was unable to hypnotise and told him that he cannot hypnotise a resistant subject.

I found a flyer in a local magazine for quitting smoking using hypnosis. I've read some other questions/answers here at Y!Answers, and the results seem to be mixed–some quit, some didn't. Anyone else out there tried this? Did it work? If so, for how long?

The session I want to attend is $40, one time fee. If you walk out still feeling like you want to smoke, then they refund your money on the spot. If it's successful for you, but you want to start again some time down the road, you're able to attend another session free of charge. The name of the presenter is National Hypnosis Group.

Can anyone tell me anything about this company or about quitting smoking using hypnosis? Does this particular "deal" sound like a scam to you?

using your own experience can motivate people BUT hypnosis did not help me or several people i know. there is a new drug out there called CHANTEX and has worked for every one i have spoken to, including me.it is a blocker that tells your brain you don't want to smoke untill you can get it out of your system and make new habits. i have been on it for 6 weeks and don't miss them at all. i have not smoked for a week now.my husband smoked 2 packs a day and he quit in just 2 weeks!!! it can be expensive….some ins. co. will cover it and the Lilly co. that makes it Will give it to you very cheap if you are in a lower income class.
