Can Anyone Tell Me The Easiest Way To Quit Smoking. Other Then Cold Turkey?
I have been smoking for 12 years and i need to quit but i have found that everything product i have tried has failed. I even went to hypnotherapy and it doesn't work. Not only to quit for myself but for my children to. But i know there is no easy way.
Quitting smoking is a great opportunity to learn about ourselves.
Congratulate yourself on having the desire to stop - then you are over the worst, but still need to maintain your resolve. It's just so easy to start thinking that just one won't hurt, but it does. Just one achieves nothing except feeling the need for another. Whatever you do, don't have just one. Beware - alcohol will weaken your resolve.
Here's a few home-brewed tips that might be useful.
It's not just nicotine addiction - there are 50+ chemicals in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as 'my body needs something', which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these 'my body needs something' sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the 'want something' feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we've had one we still have the feeling, and want another!
We will have a few bouts of feeling or even being short tempered. We must try to bite our lip, and control; ourselves. Recognise the short temper as being the removal of toxins which are trying to find a way out. They went in through the mouth, and they try to get out that way to. We must learn to keep our mouth closed, and force the toxins out the other way.
After we have stopped for a while we will begin to feel that just one wont to any harm.
All that leads to is a desire for just another one. We must guard very strongly against the desire to have just one.

I bought the patch. I took an ashtray and dumped the remnants into a little babyfood jar. I put an inch of water in the jar and swirled it around. I put the lid on. I got up the next morning…applied the patch. Then about 3 hours later I was dying for a cig…I took the babyfood jar and opened it and took a whiff and nearly puked from the smell. I sealed it again and put it in my pocket. I did this for the first day and couldnt stand it. The second day I took a real cig and taped it up with scotch tape and painted the end with red nail polish. It looked like a lit cig. Now everytime I was craving a cig I pulled that out and "smoked it"….faked it of course but because I taped it , it enabled me to drag on it. (if that makes sense). Then I would take out my babyfood jar…and smell and get sick. I never lit up again. It's been 11 months now.
(KEEP IN MIND…the patch must be worn as directed, too.)

You could just die? That has been proven to be most effective! I am a smoker, hate the fact that I am but I have had some success in the past. I would start out by cutting down, stop smoking in your car if you do, stop smoking before noon, etc…then I used the patches for a week and by then I was good…for about three months!!!
You need to stay away from smokers and situations that triggers your brain to smoke, so if you have to have a cig with that beer…well the beer has to go to, trust me thats how I started back everytime I quit, I was in situations that I always smoked in.

The only way to do it is cold turkey. If you put your mind do it, you can beat any addiction, if your will is strong enough.

As of November 14th I will be a quitter for 2 years. Honestly it was very hard. I kept getting Bronchitis. I smoked for about 15 years. My doctor threatened to put me in the hospital for pneumonia in front of my child. I bought the patch made a commitment to myself and haven't smoked since. Please do not think it is as easy as it sounds. I am a highly competitive person and I told everyone that I quit so I was less likely to start again and put up with failure. A lot of people can't quit the first time. You just have to keep trying. I also changed a lot of my habits. I stopped caffeine and started working out regularly. I get colds and such a lot less now and enjoy running again. Good luck.

Convince yourself that it is morally wrong (2 cor 7:1) and pray to the allmighty for help. then act in harmony with your prayers: Choose a quit date, and mark it on your calendar.
If you are about to give in, delay. By waiting just ten minutes, the acute craving may pass. Sometimes the thought of never smoking again might seem overwhelming. If you feel that way, concentrate on quitting just for today.Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you can be an occasional smoker, even if you have stopped smoking for a year or more.

I'm a quitter and here's my advice. First list down how many cigarettes you smoke a day. Then list down when you need to smoke. (i.e. which times of the day). From there start trimming down the no. of times you smoke and the no of cigarettes. For each cigarette you cut down, replace it with a sweet or something. If you smoke Reds or something, change to lights or something equivalent. Its not an easy process but if you start cutting down first then you'll find it easier to give it up completely in time to come. I've been smoke-free for 11 months now - and am loving it. I hope you will too. Good luck.
