What You Remember and How You Act

March 20th, 2012 by Genviev Martin Bernard

You know you can think of happy memories and feel the happy emotion, if you let yourself. Just like you can think of a scary or sad memory and feel that emotion.

There is obviously a close connection between our emotions and memories. Almost as if the emotion is part of the memory. Our memories are always in our minds so it makes sense that the emotions in our memories can constantly have an effect on how we feel.

This can cause psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress and depression. It can also cause more basic disruption in your life like fears, phobias and high stress.

Medication commonly prescribed for relief of these issues, but it only attempts to address the ’symptoms’ rather than address the cause. The problem is rarely ‘fixed’ with medication.

The key to long term help with these issues would appear to be the emotional association with the memory. What would happen if that association could be erased, reduced or even changed?

There is research using a medication called propranolol that can be used as an “amnesia drug”. The purpose is to directly disrupt the connection between our memories and the emotions they are associated with.

This study, in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, talks about psychiatrists at McGill University and Harvard University using the amnesia drug to disrupt the memories of trauma victims. The drug reduces the emotional part of the memory while leaving the conscious part of the memory.

With this process, people still have the memory, but the emotion is reduced or detached. The potential problems with this process, such as permanence or side effects, are not known.

There are other ways to reduce and change the emotion connected to memories. Other processes that are well tested, well established and without side-effects.

Specifically hypnosis. Proper hypnosis seems more effective for this process since, when you are in hypnosis, you are using the emotional portion of your mind. This is especially true with memories containing strong emotion from childhood. When experiencing memories from childhood will generally ‘feel’ the age you were when you created the memory.

When using modern hypnosis to re-experience a traumatic memory, the hypnotist needs to be properly trained for the process to be quick and effective. When these conditions are met, the client can experience the memory with the perspective of adulthood. This alone will often reduce or negate the emotions involved.

Working with issues with these methods are about updating perceptions, and beliefs. Not just in a conscious way, but also in a subconscious, feeling way.

Mindful Eating: The Natural Way to Weight Loss

February 29th, 2012 by Marietta Hagy

Lots of persons associate meditation with spirituality, with chanting typical to most Eastern religions. Basically meditation is all about concentrate. It trains the thoughts to concentrate on just one believed. There is absolutely nothing religious or mystical about meditation. Just put, meditation is about concentrating on a single issue and ordinarily meditation is about focusing on ourselves. You just get into an alert and calm frame of thoughts and observe what thoughts pass via our minds with no analysing or attempting to control them. You permit the thoughts to pass and do not give them any significance at all or stand judgement on them.

In our quest to lose weight the all-natural way, meditation can play an crucial function. We can control our minds with meditation, the similar way as you learnt as young youngsters how to control our bodies and not knock factors over or fall although walking. People today are encouraged to be conscious of what they eat and how their bodies react to the food. If you can understand to meditate you will obtain that you will be more aware of your self. Sports Improvement-No More Freak Outs

February 23rd, 2012 by Genviev Martin Bernard

Every athlete, in every sport gets nervous before a game or has a game day superstition. Some of the questions running through their minds are, what if we lose, what if I mess up, or worse injury! These thoughts become so powerful and can take over a players mind. No one wants to say they had a bad game. Everyone wants to be at their physical and mental best while performing, however sometimes this is difficult to achieve without help.

Often we set ourselves up for failure in sports when we begin to think of our flaws. For instance, a basketball player might feel too short or not fast enough. Being short may be true, but this should not effect how you play the game. Not every basketball player is tall, but if you know how to play the game, this will help you. If you are not fast enough, this is something that can be fixed, through both physical workouts and mental workouts. By identifying what limits you mentally to be slow, you can then become physically fast. It could possibly be a memory you had that is holding you back, or maybe a learned behavior. If someone continues to tell you that you are too slow, you begin to believe you are. Over coming this belief alone can be difficult.

Most sports are not games of luck. A baseball player doesn’t hit 5 home runs in a row because he was lucky, he is focused. If you are not in that zone, it is hard to perform at your best. Often there are outside pressures that influence an athlete?s performance such as pressure from coaches, fans or parents, a loud negative person in the stands, or maybe you simply psyched yourself out before the game even started by worrying you would have a bad game. Identifying what makes you lose focus, and learning new tricks to keep you in the zone. You can become not lucky, but focused.

Bang, the gun goes off, swimmers away. Swimming has some luck to it, but ultimately it is all about the skill, not who got a lucky call which it true of many other sports. If you can learn to improve your skill level mentally, the physical improvements will follow which will allow you to create your own luck. By learning visual and mental cues, you can teach your body how to be on point and improve your skill level. When your mind has powerful successes they become easier to recreate on the court during the game.

To truly be called and athlete you must love not only the game but yourself and your team. All of these things build a better, stronger, more valuable athlete. If you are constantly worrying about how you did in the game or how bad your team mate is then you are doing yourself and team a disservice. If you were always told how bad you are a something or how if you teammate would have just passed you the ball you could have won, you are allowing these experiences to take over the game. Once you learn how to deal with these feelings and memories, you will be an amazing athlete.

Sure you can work out at the gym for hours on end to improve your skills, or you can try to focus on something else during the game, but you have not really dealt with the issue. Hypnosis is one way of achieving all of these things and more. It will identify what skills you have hidden deep down and how to develop the new and old skills with a new positive energy, which replaces the negative. You will learn how to focus your energy on the game instead of an obnoxious fan or coach. All of these things are distractions and they can hinder your progress as an athlete. While under hypnosis your mind is more relaxed and open to suggestions, you will not longer have the feeling you are sabotaging yourself you will be an unstoppable athlete.

Sports, at any level should above all be fun. You should not have to experience a worthless, anxious, or distracted feeling before you begin a game. Sure you can try other things but there is no reason to try those things when there is one blanket treatment for it. You know what works for you and your lifestyle, make your choice, but make an informed choice.

Anxiety – How Hypnosis Can Help

February 22nd, 2012 by Genviev Martin Bernard

According to WebMD and a poll taken by the American Psychological Association, there is more stress today than five years ago. Over 54% of people feel anxiety over financial issues such as rent or mortgage payments specifically, but also worry about work, and problem management. Stress and anxiety are both a state of mind. How you deal with stress and anxiety are completely up to you. Some manage anxiety well while others do not know how to manage their feelings. In order to manage anxiety, you will need help, it is difficult to do alone.

First you must identify what your stress and anxiety triggers are. The holidays are a good example of a less obvious stress. One person might look at the holidays as a nice fun experience and enjoy making a large dinner for fifteen people. Another person might look at this same situation and have a panic attack. Other causes of stress and anxiety are obvious such as losing a job or having no money.

Next you must identify what reaction you have to these triggers. Some people eat when they are stressed or nervous, while others drink or smoke. Maybe you get irritable or cry often. Whatever your reactions to high levels of anxiety are, it is important to identify them and understand why you react this way.

Learning about both triggers and behaviors are key to your success. Without identifying them or learning to manage your anxiety levels, you can have serious problems. Not only does anxiety and stress cause heart attacks, high blood pressure and ulcers it can also cause other things you may not think of. For example, chronic headaches, acne, teeth grinding, and make you more prone to illness such as a cold or flu. Your personal life can be affected as well. Your abilities to manage a family crisis, reach goals and perform well are work are also diminished.

There are different ways of managing anxiety levels, medications, counseling and support groups are the most common. However, there is a new treatment being used on many with great success, hypnosis. Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind which will allow you to uncover hidden triggers that are not obvious or often thought of. You will also learn to manage your response to certain stresses through deep levels of relaxation.

Some people feel other more traditional approaches to anxiety treatment should be consulted first. However, medications only deal with the chemical reactions in the brain at the time of high stress levels. Counseling and support groups can be a challenge for most people and their busy lives. It is difficult to make every support group meeting and also difficult to open yourself up to a complete stranger when you are thinking on a conscious level. Since hypnosis does not use chemicals and works with the subconscious mind, you are able to get the full benefits of the treatment and work through your issues privately.

Those who suffer from anxiety know how difficult situations can be and how frustrating it is to suffer from this condition. You have taken then first step in your treatment, you are acknowledged you have a problem and want to fix it, now here is the most difficult part, deciding what treatment is right for you. Now it is time to get going on your research. While you are doing so, think about what is important and most nurturing for you. You want to make sure whatever treatment you go with, you are getting all you can out of it, hypnosis will allow for all of that and more.

Weight Loss-It Is Time for a Change

February 15th, 2012 by Genviev Martin Bernard

No one wants to worry about what goes into their mouth every minute of ever day, where?s the fun in that? You are not alone in your battle to lose weight. Many Americans deal with being over weight on a daily basis and stress out over it. Weight loss should not be an annoying experience but rather a happy one.

Some people crave certain foods, and sometimes those foods are bad for you. You know what you like to eat and you know not all of it is good. You know what challenges you face on a daily basis with your eating habits. Often people have emotional and confidence associations with food, it is time for that to be changed.

Hypnosis can also help make it even easier for you to begin having cravings for healthy things such as exercise and drinking more water. Just knowing you this is possible will help put your mind at ease and allow the process to be more successful.

Anyone with a weight problem has some problem areas. Areas that if they had true control of, they would not have a weight problem. When you now longer fight with yourself for control, you have success.

Food can often carry an emotional attachment for some people. Some eat when they are sad or reward themselves through food. This becomes a habit, often as a result of repetition. Because of this repetition you learn a ?behavior?, this can be an obstacle for successful weight loss.

You know what you like to eat and you know not all of it is good. You know what makes your craving certain foods more than others. You know what challenges you face on a daily basis with your eating habits. Often people have emotional associations with food, this can be changed, let go of those associations.

As I mentioned before, some people think weight loss is stressful, and it can be, but not it you address the stress head on. With hypnosis you can gain a more relaxed state of mind for many aspects of your life. Losing weight should be something you are happy about, not something that makes you feel stress.

Hypnosis can help you on your path to weight loss in all of these areas. Losing weight is never easy, but with hypnosis it can be a much more positive experience. You have all the tools to achieve you goals, now you just have to do it.

Stress is Funny

February 12th, 2012 by Genviev Martin Bernard

Stress is a funny thing. Stress can motivate you to achieve more than you believed possible. Stress can also ruin your health and sometimes even your life.

It depends on how much stress you have and what kinds of stress. It also depends on what your past has taught you – how your mind has learned to deal with stress.

The biological signs of stress are meant to help you physically survive. In your world, this is rarely helpful, since most stress today is psychological.

Mental stress will come from issues such as concern about money, relationships, and your health. Your body’s physical reaction to stress does not help these situations. Since these situations are common and long-lasting, your body can potentially be in a constant state of stress.

This is what causes stress related health problems as varied as headaches, insomnia, trouble thinking clearly, depression and digestion problems. Health problems from stress eventually just increases the stress you already have.

Common sense tells you that managing your stress is important. There are all kinds of people and companies that will offer advice, products and services to help your stress. If every option worked the same for everyone, that would not be a problem. But, we’re all different. What works for your friend, may not work for you.

I believe it will help you find your appropriate stress management tools by becoming more aware of what creates your stress and how you experience it.

It helps to decide if your stress is from situations or behaviors – Is your stress in proportion to the current situations or does it feel blown out of proportion? It may not be easy to figure this part out on your own.

If it is situational, what are the causes and can they be addressed in a practical manner? Is it realistic to expect yourself to get some form of exercise and a proper diet? (I know from personal experience, if I have high stress it is when my life is too busy to work-out or get to the grocery store for planned meals)

If it is behavioral, spending some time looking at the situation analytically may help. Look at your past and see if it is affecting your present, such as memories of past emotional trauma. (The stronger the emotion, the more vivid the memory. The more vivid the memory, the stronger the stress you will continue to feel from it.)

After getting a better understanding of your stress, you will have a better idea of how to manage it.

Situational stress is easier to figure out and will eventually be behind you. Behavioral stress may require outside help to get through. But, it IS possible, and IS worth accomplishing.

If you have a behavioral stress controlling your life, seek professional help. Medication is sometimes an answer, though many people that have used medication for stress, experience side effects that are a trade-off. They sometimes say they would rather feel stressed than live in a daily fog of medication.

Explore and educate yourself about your options. Then, make use of them. When it comes to improving your life, the only poor choice is to not try.

Can Hypnosis Help You Become Fit And Healthy?

February 7th, 2012 by Wayne Linton

For many of us, our first exposure to the world of hypnosis may well have been seeing stage hypnotists getting people to do stupid things in front of a live audience. These performances are obviously just a bit of fun although it may have led to the fear that in some way, you give up the control of your mind when you are hypnotized. This is not true as all that is really happening is that normal inhibitions are overcome whilst being in a hypnotic state. The fact is that hypnosis has proven to have therapeutic value when used in the field of health. In this article, we will take a look at how this can help you to get fit and healthy.

How Hypnosis Can Help

The first most obvious use for hypnosis is how it can help with conditions of the mind such as stress and depression. For many individuals who suffer in this way, it is often assumed that it is just who they are and that they have a natural tendency to be stressed and anxious. This may be true to some extent but it would not be right to say that this should be a permanent state that cannot be improved. In many cases, there may be underlying causes that are unknown to the sufferer and a trained hypnotherapist can often discover these during one of their sessions. Once deep-seated problems are brought to the surface, they can start to be eradicated through the use of hypnotic suggestions.

Hypnosis can also help you in your goals to get fit and stick to any fitness regime that you may have started. You can also use hypnosis to help you achieve your fitness goals by regularly following the fitness regimen of your choice. One of the huge hurdles in any type of goal to stay healthy and fit is actually adhering to it over a long period of time. This again usually boils down to our beliefs about who we are and maybe the type of environment we were brought up in when we were a child. The manner in which hypnosis works is based on putting you into a deep relaxed state so that your mind is made to become open to promptings that are absorbed into the subconscious mind. This is vital because it is this part of the mind that has a potent influence in our everyday living and habits.

Typical suggestions will most probably center on how you will feel as soon as you have reached your particular goal. Hypnosis is well known in the world of sports and you will discover a lot of top athletes who think that they’re winners because of their outlook. You don’t need to be in professional sports to use the process that they use to reach high levels of fitness. By using hypnosis, you can speed up your progress and stay positively motivated.

There’s no need to schedule a private session with a hypnotist because there are many available hypnosis resources that you can use on your own at home. Many well-known hypnotists now produce fitness products specially designed to be used by individuals. If you would like to stay fit, make sure you take advantage of hypnosis and the benefits it offers.
